photo showed the black body/white stripes colorway, received the opposite. Just gonna roll with it as I really needed new shoes and Mexico 66 are the best. Still happy, but now I have to order a pair in the color I wanted as well.Nice and comfortable**Disclaimer: This review is long. But just go with me friends...So I'm a tried & true Converse gal, & I feel a little adulterous, but this affair may be true love. A sexy vibrant green Onitsuka crossed my path once in Paris years ago & Oh mon cheri I was smitten. Though I did search- Cupid is a fickle fellow & Alas, as an American student à Paris - at $200 USD - I & my Onitsuka attraction had to > Forget Paris < . Then, so unexpectedly a vibrant, sexy green amour I'd pined for, crossed my path again @Amazon...And SCORE! The exact Onitsukas graced my path again @1/3 of the price & my love was recquited! Now enough waxing poetic...Let's get to the pertinent info:I've long thin (sz 8.5 N/AA feet w/ a narrow heel, so I seldom find a shoe that COMFORTABLY hugs my feet - especially my narrow heel which often blisters till a shoe is broken in. Heretofore, I go Converse for a low, minimal profile & tons of color choices, & w/long feet & skinny legs, they tend to minimize the Sasquatch effect. The Onitsuka's raise that bar w/a sleek minimal profile, hug these narrow feet like a glove & come in a myriad of colors (Vast color selections offered even in leather). But here's the kicker:I broke my left foot in 4! places in the Spring. Not toes - but sturdy major bigger bones. The stabilizing cast, & crutches came off, but I still have a boot I don't wear nearly as often as directed. I have worn NOTHING but flip-flops for quite a while. Even my beloved Converse have proven vastly uncomfortable & I can endure them for about 2 hours.THESE ONITSUKA'S ARE THE FIRST & ONLY ACTUAL SHOES I CAN WEAR ALL DAY w/no added discomfort, since so egregiously breaking this foot. So I love the color. I love the sleek narrow profile. I love that they look as stylish w/ a sundress as a pair of jeans - like my sweet loyal Converse. But the ability to wear something instead of a flip flop all day, & drive my stick shift w/ it's characteristically stiff German clutch is a relief I cannot understate.Any Onitsuka's that cross my path on sale - I will purchase. Were they all as great a deal as these, I might contemplate divorceing my gazillion Converse. It would be an amicable split & we'd always be a part of eachother's lives. But I'm in love Chuck (Taylor). I'm in LOVE...with Onitsuka.Very comfortable and they look greatJust love these shoes.I can’t go Anywhere without someone saying something about these shoes. They are comfortable but not shoes to wear all day. Great shoe!Zapatos excelentes para el verano, deberian fabricar mas unidades de esta marca, excelente producto talle correctoThis is my third pair of Mexico 66s. I really love these shoes, especially when I can find them at a good price. Why do I like them so much? First of all, they are a little wider in the toe box than many other athletic shoes. Since I have wider feet, they fit me more comfortably than the medium width of other companies. They're not New Balance or Ascis wide but the Onitsuka "medium" is not really narrow like some sneaker brands. I wear an 11 in street shoes but I take an 11.5 to 12 in sneakers. With the Onitsukas, I go with a 12 although I think an 11.5 might fit okay. (To update, I will add that I've bought two more pair of these shoes since the original review. I went with 11.5 this time and they fit me even better than the 12. If you have wide feet, I suggest you order your regular sneaker size and see how they fit.) Twelve is a little too long for my feet but it allows plenty of room for my toes to wiggle around. I also like the soft, thin leather that quickly conforms to the shape of my foot. They are comfortable without having a lot of padding or excess material in the upper. The thin sole contributes to the feeling of being barefoot but it protects the bottom of the foot well. They offer some arch support but mostly they are flat soled shoes for normal feet. The insole is glued in place but it could be ripped out and replaced if desired but it would be better to just buy a different shoe if you plan to do that. These shoes are lightweight and feel insubstantial, however, they seem to handle wear very well. They also look nice. These are not overbuilt athletic shoes, they are comfortable everyday sneakers with a retro look. The downside is the price unless you find them at a bargain in your size and an agreeable color. Amazon has been a good source for me to find Tigers without spending a fortune. The only other downside I can think of is the fact that the thin sole means some of my pants run a bit long and drag the ground when wearing these shoes. We all know why most of us want a pair of these. Whether it's Kill Bill's Bride, or Bruce Lee in Game of Death that inspires you, these kicks are iconic. Okay they might be slightly different in minor detail, but they are as close as you're going to get. Whether you pair them with jeans, track pants or a yellow jumpsuit, they look the part.Comfort-wise, remember these are casual trainers, not as cushioned or as comfy as sporty trainers, the walls are very thin, being just a thin layer of leather, lined with a strong textile layer, securely stitched to it. The inner sole is fairly thick, but very stiff, with an arch support. If you are used to wearing sports trainers, they will feel a very light, but a little stiff, at least at first, but should wear-in nicely. As for fit, I took advice from a previous purchaser that they wear a little large, and ordered half a size down (I am a UK 9, I ordered 8.5). I'm glad I did, as they definitely would have been a bit too large. In fact, the 8.5's feel slightly on the large side, so I might have even got away with a full size down.Overall, I have wanted them for a while, love the look of them and am very happy with my purchase. On Size:Most people have worn a pair of Adidas at some point, so they should provide the best comparison for size. For me the best fit in Adidas is 8.5 to 9 UK, depending on the model. I ordered my Tigers in a size 9, but when they arrived they were very lose, both in width and length, I'd equate them to Adidas size 10+. I returned them and reordered another pair in size 8 UK. The 8s were a near perfect fit, both in width and length so I'd advise potential buyers to consider dropping a size when ordering.Opinion:Once I'd got the right size they proved to be very comfy and light to wear. With their thin sole I would not recommend wearing them as a long distance running shoe, but as an everyday wear, they are great. As for style, they are classic. Lot of people reference them to the Kill Bill movie, but I first saw Bruce Lee wearing a pair in Game of Death - way cooler- and have wanted a pair ever since. These are lovely looking shoes I'm really pleased with them. They're really comfortable without being to heavy or bulky. Don't be fooled however as they are a rather flat shoe and don't have all the padding you'd get with a sports shoe. They're very similar in terms of fit to an Adidas gazelle personally I find them a little more comfortable.I chose the Birch/India Ink/Latte colour scheme and it looks great. I've never really been into the whole gleaming white trainer thing and always had something of a gap in my wardrobe in that department but the off tone of the latte colour is subtle enough that I'd be more than happy to wear them in that role now.Love everything about this shoes except sometimes sizing gets funny - I'm a big fun of Mexico 66 but I still juggle b/n three sizing. Hence, hard to take advantage of sales as one has to juggle b/n 1/2 sizes - got 9 pairs and all not same size - the other miner issue is that, the soles do wear out quite quick - still love them though!!!!I have several pairs of Onitsuka Tigers.More interesting than Nike or Adidas. The trainers do run large, but are very comfortable.Nice soft leather and well made.Highly recommended.
